Gatlinburg Golf Course in the Smoky Mountains

Golf. Just the mention of this celebrated sport conjures images of emerald greens and zen-like concentration. No matter the reason you golf: for exercise, for relaxation, for fun – the 18-hole Gatlinburg Golf Course is well worth a visit from any golfer in the Smoky Mountains. So if you want an experience that's above (or in this case: below) par, check out Gatlinburg Golf Course during your Smoky Mountain vacation!

The Course

Famed course architect William Langford originally built this golf course in Gatlinburg in 1955. After many years, this 18-hole course had begun to fall into disrepair. Thankfully, the course received a much needed a half million dollar renovation. Now, Gatlinburg Golf Course is a pleasure to play and offers unique challenges to golfers of all ages and abilities.

Located in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains, the course features rolling hills and stunning views of mountain peaks in the distance. Gorgeous scenery is nice touch at any course and no matter how well you're playing, 18-holes at this course are delightful and relaxing. Some highlights include:

  • Hole #12 – "Sky High" offers golfers the chance to take a golf shot from the tee 200 feet above the green. Some golfers have described this as golfing off the edge of a cliff (which is as awesome as it sounds.)
  • Hole #17 – This is a particularly tricky par 3 hole. This challenging shot involves precision, concentration, strategy, and as always some luck.
  • Hole #3 – "Long Lane" is a 529-yard par 5 hole. You may want to use your best driver on this one.

Over all, the course offers some unique shots that are fun an interesting. This is largely due to the hilly terrain that the course is expertly laid over. Some valid complaints against this course are that some fairways are a bit narrow and there are few blind shots. Even still, it's hard to fault this award winning golf course. With stunning views, fun shots, and some challenging shots, Gatlinburg Golf Course is fun for golfers of all ages and abilities.

The clubhouse

18-holes of golf can be tiring and given the rolling hills of the Smoky Mountain golf course, you may enjoy taking a break. The Clubhouse is open from 7 AM to 7 PM everyday. Here, golfers will find a pro shop with cutting edge golf gadgets and comfortable apparel. There is also a restaurant in the clubhouse where you can grab a quick bite before returning to the greens.

Tips For Gatlinburg Golf Course

  • This course can be quite popular, especially in the summer. Be sure to call and reserve your tee time. In the peak season between June and October, tee times can be reserved up to 14 days in advance. In the slow season, tee times operate on a first-come first-served basis.
  • In the busy season, there are a few holes that there cause some backups. As always, it's hard to control how long the group in front of you takes to complete a hole.
  • In the spring and summer, bring bug spray. The Southern Appalachians can get muggy on some days and the nats love this weather.
  • The Gatlinburg Golf course offers discounts for seniors, juniors, and active members of our armed forces.
